This privacy policy explains the personal information we collect, how it is processed and protected, and who may have access to it. It also outlines your rights in accordance with applicable data protection legislation. This policy is an integral part of our terms and conditions.

Who are we?

eEducation Albert AB (reg. no. 559020-9093) is responsible for processing your personal data. Our services include Albert Junior, Albert Code, Albert Geo, and Albert Teen. For more information about how your personal data is handled within each service, please refer to the individual privacy policies for each product.

Collection of Personal Data

When you create an account with us, we ask for your email address, which is used as your username for logging in. We do not collect personal identification numbers or other sensitive personal data. To make payments, you enter your card details directly with our payment provider, Stripe (Stripe, Inc.), who is responsible for handling this information. You can read more about this in [Stripe's privacy policy]. When you or your child uses our service, we collect information about your activity, such as which exercises have been visited and completed. This is done to save your progress, customize the content to the appropriate level, and ensure you can continue where you left off. We also collect technical information, such as IP addresses and the last login time, to ensure the service works smoothly. To create an account with Albert Junior, you must be at least 18 years old. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a person under the age of 18 without consent, we will immediately delete this data. If you suspect this has happened, please contact us at privacy@hejalbert.se.

For Albert Teen, the minimum age requirement is 13 years. Children under the age of 13 need parental or guardian approval to download and use the app. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from someone under 13 without parental consent, we will immediately delete this data. If you suspect this has happened, please contact us at privacy@hejalbert.se.

We use cookies to collect information on how our website is used. For more information, please refer to our Cookie Policy. If you order printed exercise books, we need your name and address to send them to you. Sometimes, we ask for feedback or conduct studies to evaluate the educational effectiveness of our service. If we collect personal data in these cases, we always clearly state the purpose.

Reviews and Testimonials

From time to time, we invite existing subscribers to share their experience of Albert through a review form. Participation is always voluntary and has no effect on your subscription, pricing or access to the service.

What We Collect

If you choose to submit a review, we collect the display name you choose to use, the text of your review and, if you choose to record one, a video. The review form is provided by Senja (senja.io), which also collects technical information such as device, country and the time at which the form was opened. This technical information is used solely for statistics and is never published.

Senja acts as a data processor on our behalf. eEducation Albert AB is always the data controller for information collected through the form. We have a data processing agreement with Senja.

Consent to Publication

Submitting the form does not mean that your review will be published automatically. Publication requires separate, written approval from you. Before publishing a review, we will contact you and show you exactly how and where it is intended to appear: on our website, in app stores, in newsletters or in other marketing materials. We publish nothing without receiving your explicit written consent.

Legal Basis

The processing of personal data in connection with reviews is based on consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Consent to collection is given when you choose to submit the form. Consent to publication is provided separately by written confirmation.

How Long We Keep the Information

We retain your review until you withdraw your consent or request erasure. If a review has not been published within 24 months of submission, and we have not received confirmation that you wish us to retain the information, we will delete it.

Right to Withdraw Consent

You may request at any time that we remove your review from all channels and delete your information. Send your request to support@hialbert.co.uk and we will process it within 30 days.

Schools and Teachers

This section applies to you if you work at a school that has entered into an agreement with Albert, participate in a pilot programme, or have been contacted by us as a teacher, headteacher or other school representative.

What We Collect

In connection with school agreements, pilot programmes and direct contact, we collect contact details for the person representing the school, usually their name, job title and email address. If the school is party to an agreement with us, we also record the school’s name and billing address.

Teachers and administrators who create accounts on the platform are registered using their name and email address. Teacher accounts are always free, regardless of subscription type.

In connection with pilot programmes, we may collect written feedback or video feedback from participating teachers as part of the pilot terms. This feedback is used primarily as product input and is processed internally. How it may potentially be published externally is described in the next section.

Legal Basis

Processing contact details for school representatives in connection with marketing and direct communications is based on our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in communicating with relevant professionals within the education sector. You may object to such processing at any time by contacting us at support@hialbert.co.uk.

Processing information in connection with an entered agreement, such as account administration, invoicing and follow-up, is based on the performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Feedback submitted as part of a pilot agreement is processed on the basis of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), as participation in the pilot and the provision of structured feedback form part of the agreed pilot arrangement.

Testimonials from Teachers and School Representatives

If a teacher or school representative chooses to provide a testimonial for possible external publication, for example on our website or in marketing materials, the same basic rule applies as for consumer reviews: publication requires separate, written approval from the person whose words are quoted.

For schools participating in a pilot programme, approval is also required separately from the school’s authorised representative, for example the headteacher or the person who signed the pilot agreement, in addition to the individual teacher’s approval. We publish nothing from a pilot school unless both approvals have been documented.

Testimonials arising from a pilot programme are always marked with a contextual label when published, for example “pilot participant” or “pilot school”, so that the context is clearly apparent.

How Long We Keep the Information

Contact details for school representatives are retained while the school relationship is active and for up to two years afterwards, in accordance with our general policy for retaining personal data. Teacher account information is deleted when the account is closed or when the school’s agreement ends. Pilot feedback that has not been published is deleted within 24 months of submission unless we have received documented consent for continued retention. Videos and feedback from teachers and schools submitted through Senja are deleted from the third-party platform within 7 days.

Your Rights

As a teacher, headteacher or other school representative, you have the same rights under the GDPR as described in the “Your Rights” section of this privacy policy: the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and the right to object. Specific to Albert Junior and Albert Teen

In Albert Junior, you can choose to upload a profile picture, but this is completely optional. If you do so, you are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to use the image. You can also provide a nickname or your first name for a more personalized experience, but this is optional. When registering an account in Albert Teen, we ask for your email address, your name, and your age. This helps us customize the service to the right level for you.

How We Use Your Personal Data Create and Manage Your Account

We use your email address to create a user account so that you can log in and save your activities. This is done to fulfill our contract with you.

Improve Our Service

We may analyze user data in aggregate form to develop and optimize our service. This is in our legitimate interest to improve our platform and tailor our marketing.

Communicate with You

We may contact you regarding your account or to respond to your inquiries. This is done either to fulfill our contract with you or to meet a legal obligation.

Send Offers and Marketing

We may send offers we believe are relevant to you, either based on legal grounds or your consent. You can update your marketing preferences at any time via the link at the bottom of our emails. We also use cookies and web beacons to improve our communication and analyze campaign results.

Delivery Services

If you order physical products, we use your name and address to send them to you.

Data Protection and Security

We process your data in accordance with applicable legislation and may, in some cases, need to do so without prior notice. We use encrypted information technology and have security measures in place to protect your data. In the event of a data breach, we will inform you when it is relevant. A dedicated data protection officer monitors our adherence to this privacy policy.

International Transfer of Personal Data

We store your personal data in cloud services both within and outside the EU/EEA area.

Our goal is to process personal data within the EU or EEA. In some cases, our or our partners' servers may be located outside the EU/EEA. If we transfer your personal data to a country outside the EU/EEA, this will only be to countries approved as adequate by the European Commission or based on EU standard contractual clauses. Regarding the U.S., the transfer is made to companies self-certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

Regardless of where your personal data is processed, we take steps to ensure that it is used solely for the purposes we have agreed upon, in accordance with GDPR.

How Long Do We Retain Your Personal Data?

We retain your personal data as long as you use Albert and for two years after your subscription ends. During this time, we may use the information to contact you with offers and gather feedback.

If required by law, we may need to retain certain data longer, or if necessary to fulfill our contract with you. In such cases, the processing of your personal data will not be based on consent, and it will not be possible to withdraw this consent.

Third-Party Data and Personal Data

In certain cases, we share information with our partners who provide services for us, which is known as third-party data. This may include services such as data analytics, marketing, email, storage, support, payment services, and administration of consumer surveys. Third parties will only process your data according to our instructions and under a written agreement, ensuring that they provide the same or higher level of protection for your data.

Your Rights

You have the right to know which personal data we process about you, and if any information is incorrect, you have the right to request it be corrected. You can withdraw your consent at any time, but only for the processing based on consent. Depending on applicable legislation, you have the following rights:

Right to Access: You have the right to request an access request to view the personal data we process about you. We are always transparent about our processing, and if you want more detailed information about your data, you can request access to it.
Right to Restriction: You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data under certain circumstances.
Right to Object: You can always object to marketing and challenge the processing of personal data based on our legitimate interest.
Right to Data Portability: If our processing is based on your consent or an agreement with you, you have the right to request that your personal data be transferred to another data controller. This applies provided it is technically possible and can be automated.
Right to Erasure: In some cases, you have the right to have your personal data erased, for example, if the data is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. Please note that, in some cases, we may be required to retain certain information by law.
Right to Rectification: You have the right to have incorrect personal data rectified, and if necessary, complete incomplete data.

If necessary, we may ask you to verify your identity by sending a copy of your driver's license, passport, ID card, or other documentation.
